Happy Thanksgiving!

What an amazing world God has created for us!  It is exciting to explore our world and through science understand and communicate with others what he has made.  Gravity is the pulling force between two objects.  We are pulled by the earth.  The oceans are moved by the moon...May we grow in knowledge and still give praise to our Creator.  What an awesome God! 

We watched a video clip of early Plimoth and the first Thanksgiving. So different and yet we too can give our praise to Him.  We have so much to also be thankful for.  Have a great Thanksgiving with family and friends!

Each student reflected on this question and responded during our Monday Chapel Celebration.  As this week begins, Mr. Stolman helps us to focus and to think about Thanksgiving Day~November 24, 2011.

I am thankful to my God who offers salvation through Jesus Christ!  I am thankful that I am able to freely express and share that love and peace to others and especially at DCS. This has been a great week!  The students have worked hard and have received affirmation that learning  has occurred!  We begin again and continue to build on our knowledge for yearlong learning.  From the First Americans to measuring our speed walking and running, we are exploring our world!

November 15 and 16

In the book of Daniel, we were reminded to turn to our friends for support.  Together they called on God to answer their prayer. (Daniel 2 :17-18) Do we have faithful friends bringing us hope and asking for our accountability to remember to go before God in all circumstances? Thank the LORD for Christian friends, brothers and sisters in the LORD, who keep us faithful to our call to love God and others by serving others!

What a blessing to be called children of God!  We were reminded in chapel today that we are loved by God as his children.  We are to know Him and display Him in our lives to all others!

End of the week: The internet is Back!

November 10 and 11

It is great to be connected again!  Dearborn Christian connected with the surrounding community near the Summer-Stephens Park by raking leaves as Friendship Teams.  Our theme of loving one-another as One-anothering is lived out by serving others in collecting leaves for curb pick-up.  What a privilege to see all ages working together on a beautiful fall morning.  Praise to our Creator for the opportunity to stroll through His creation!

November 8 and 9 Internet Lost

A couple days without a connection to the internet is an annoyance or a frustration, but how much more sorrow in our world and in us comes from a disconnect from God.  We need a daily connection to our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13

The students were excited today!  The week has been full of activity and accomplishment.  Great work from the students as they prepared for each day.  The students are ready for service on Friday as they serve their community.

How wonderful to begin our week in chapel in praise to our Father, King, Master, Creator, and Savior!  We can call on the name of our LORD to help us show Christ and His love to others!  It was a beautiful and busy day.  Students are continuing to prepare for the wrap-up of this first nine weeks.  We have learned and accomplished a lot together.  Enjoy the day the LORD has made.  Rejoice and be glad in it!

What a busy week, the students have been such hard workers!  We are finishing up plants and animals in science with our test on Thursday, November 10.  Students can begin to explain the similarities and differences in cells.  Ask your student to draw cells.  We were excited to have lunch with our Friendship Teams.  It's great for students to be part of teams again.  Have a great fall weekend!

Look for your gifts!  In our devotions from the book of Daniel, God blessed Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, the young men who honored the LORD with their choices. They weren't afraid to use and increase those gifts and abilities in order to please God.  Do we know our gifts?  First thank the Lord for his blessings of  talents and abilities.  Ask the Lord to help you look hard for those gifts and to use them so that your best glorifies Him.   As we finish out this week let's give God our best in whatever we do!
